The Traditional Chinese Medicine and Culture Club (TCMCC) is a student association which sets the stage for the study of traditional Chinese medicine as well as the history and the cultural background. The TCMCC has always been committed to boosting students’ cultural confidence by inheriting and promoting the knowledge and culture of the traditional Chinese medicine. The Club is composed of three divisions and four departments. Three divisions areDivisionsofAcumox and Tuina,of Tai Chi,andofChinese Herbal, whose primary responsibility is to carry forward the traditional Chinese medicine and culture. TheDepartments of Publicity,of Liaison, of Secretary,andof Planningserve as the backbone of the Club, aiding three Divisions with undertaking activities.
In the Division of Acumox and Tuina, members can learn the acupoints, the techniques of acupuncture, the therapy of moxibustion, as well as the methods of Tui Na massage, cupping and scrapping. Members always bear in mind that the traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, putting equal emphasis on theory and practice, should practice medical skills with both a benevolent mind and heart.
Harmony Style Tai Chi Chuan, an intangible cultural heritage, can be learned in the Division of Tai Chi to build up a strong healthy body and uplift the mind and spirit. Members also teach the interested students by demonstration, to help them understand, and absorb the essence of Tai Chi, so that students can relax and live a healthy life.
The Division of Chinese Herbal helps members to acquaint themselves with the knowledge of the traditional Chinese medicine in advance, and to carry out the practice of the drug match. Members can enjoy the pleasure of cooking delicious medicated diet, of making the hand-made Chinese traditional medicine sachets, and of encountering the magic Chinese herbal that is rarely seen in the daily life. More importantly, one can be offered a brand-new holistic view of disease and health.
