The TCM-Integrated Hospital of Southern Medical University is one of the key construction projects of Guangdong Province's plan to build a strong Province of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is a teaching and research type first-class hospital at Grade A integrating Traditional Chinese and Western medicine with "western medicine as the basis, TCM as the feature, integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine as the advantage, oncology as the leading discipline to promote coordinated development of multiple disciplines". Founded in October 2006, it now has 828 beds, 52 departments, and two strong discipline groups of integrated Traditional Chinese and Western medicine, clinical medicine and oncology. The hospital is a national key TCM hospital construction unit for inheritance and innovation, a national standardized training base for TCM resident doctors, a national drug clinical trial institution and a TCM science and technology innovation center of Guangdong Province. There are now 760 professionals, 126 of whom have senior titles. There are 39 doctoral supervisors, 59 master’s supervisors and 15 postdoctoral co-supervisors. There are also 4 national famous senior TCM inheritance tutors, 6 Guangdong famous TCM doctors, 1 Guangdong famous senior TCM inheritance tutor and 5 Guangdong famous TCM inheritance tutors.
