“新世纪百千万人才工程”国家级人选、国务院政府特殊津贴专家,军队杰出人才基金获得者、优秀党员、优秀教师,广东省特聘教授珠江学者、广东省高校教学名师、南粤优秀教师、广东省新发传染病防治重点实验室主任,南方医科大学热带医学研究所所长、教授、博士生导师。

主持国家级精品课程、国家级双语示范课程、国家级精品视频公开课、教育部来华留学英语授课品牌课程、广东省研究生示范课程等多项教改项目;主编/副主编全国统编教材4部;发表教学论文10余篇包括南方医科大学首篇SCI教学论文;获军队“育才奖”银奖、中华医学会教育分会“医学教育优秀论文”二等奖1项;培养珠江学者1名、珠江科技新星1名、广州菁英计划获得者2名、广东省优秀青年教师1名、南医优秀教师3名;指导的本科生两次获得广东省大学生挑战杯二等奖以及首届全国大学生基础医学创新论坛暨实验设计大赛三等奖。

主持研究国内外重要课题10余项,包括WHO/TDR课题2项、美国NIH R01课题1项、国家自然科学基金重点类项目3项、国家重大科技攻关项目1项、国家863项目1项、军队杰出人才基金1项、广东省重大生物科技专项1项、广东省自然科学基金研究团队项目等。以第一完成人获得广东省科技进步二等奖2项、军队科技进步二等奖1项、南粤科技创新优秀论文一等奖1项;获发明专利授权4项、实用新型专利权3项;发表学术论文近200篇,其中包括发表在Science, PNAS, Lancet Infectious Disease, Genome Biology, PLoS Pathogen,Emerging Infectious Diseases, Advances in Genetics, Trendsin Parasitology上的SCI论文60多篇,被他引736次。

积极将多年来教学科研的成果指引疾病的防治。比如2014年广东省登革热大流行,作为该领域的专家不仅亲身投入到疾病防治的一线,积极为政府和相关的职能部门出谋划策,为蚊媒传染病的防治制定方案;还利用在国内外学术界的影响力,积极地在电视、报刊等新闻媒体上进行登革热防治的科普宣传,分别接受了《纽约时报》《华尔街日报》《环球时报》《凤凰周刊》《南方都市报》《广州电视台》等多家媒体的采访,承担了一个学者所应肩负的社会责任。另外,陈晓光还作为国家和广东省爱国卫生运动的专家,经常参与指导健康城市和卫生城市的创建和评审工作。
