Shenzhen Stomatology Hospital (Pingshan) is a municipal public stomatological hospital and an affiliated hospital to SMU, jointly established by Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission, Southern Medical University and Pingshan People’s Government. According to the principle of “overall planning and distributed implementation”, it was constructed in two phases with an overall establishment of 100 beds and 300 dental chairs. Among them, the first phase was completed and put into operation on December 28, 2019 and started trial operation on June 6, 2020. It covers an area of 2,200 square meters, with a building area of 11,200 square meters, 30 beds and 60 dental chairs. As for departments, it has set up 7 clinical departments and 1 medical technology institution including endodontics, periodontal mucosal disease, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, prosthodontics, oral implantology, and pediatric dentistry. Besides, it has flexibly introduced Academician Wang Songlin and 2 members of his team, 1 winner of NSF for Distinguished Young Scholars and 1 member of the 1,000 Talents Plan for Young Talents. The second phase of the hospital covers an area of 45,100 square meters, with a construction area of 128,100 square meters, 70 beds and 240 dental chairs. It will start integrated hospital construction under the guidance of “three hospitals and two centers”, including a stomatological hospital, a school of stomatology, a stomatological research institute, a stomatological healthcare center and a stomatological industry-university-research incubation and transformation center.
