Pingshan General Hospital of Southern Medical University (Shenzhen Pingshan District Medical Healthcare Group) was jointly constructed by Shenzhen Pingshan District Government and Southern Medical University as an affiliated hospital to Southern Medical University in September 2019. Based on the ethos of “Shared SMU Brings Pingshan Health”, it coordinates Pingshan People’s Hospital, Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and 26 community health centers run by those hospitals above in Pingshan District, providing Pingshan citizens with high-quality, all-round, whole-life-cycle healthcare services.
Founded in 1958, Pingshan District People’s Hospital is a district-level general hospital integrating medical treatment, first aid, prevention, health care, rehabilitation, clinical teaching and scientific research. It has 376 beds and 1,061 staff, 810 of whom have bachelor’s degrees or above. The hospital has set up 2 famous doctor workstations, 46 clinical medical departments and 21 community health care centers. Currently, it has 5 district-level key disciplines including urology, orthopedics, pediatrics, otolaryngology and anesthesiology, accompanied by 6 high-level talents recognized by the district authorities and 136 “Three Eminent Projects” experts at national, provincial and municipal level.
Founded in 1987, Pingshan Maternal and Child Health Hospital is a non-profit secondary hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, prevention, health care, rehabilitation and other functions, with a building area of about 9,500 square meters and 146 beds. In total, it has 439 staff, including 218 medical technicians and 156 nurses. Besides, it has established 21 clinical and medical departments and 5 affiliated community health centers, among which pediatrics (neonatology) is a district-level key discipline and also the critical newborn care center in Pingshan District. The hospital has been awarded “Advanced Unit of Maternal and Child Health Management in Shenzhen” for five consecutive years.
The General Hospital plans to be built into a first-class general hospital at Grade A with 2,000 beds within 5 years, aspiring to be a medical highland in the eastern region of Shenzhen. The new medical building of District Maternal and Child Healthcare Hospital has been put into use, and the second phase planning and design has been under way with 500 beds planned, serving the aim of building it into a first-class specialized hospital.
