With a history of about 90 years, Shunde Hospital of Southern Medical University (formerly the First People’s Hospital of Shunde) is a modernized general first-class hospital that excels in medical technologies, diagnostic equipment and medical service by integrating medical care, clinical teaching and medical research. On February 28, 2017, the People’s Government of Shunde District signed a joint development agreement with Southern Medical University (SMU) and Shunde Hospital officially evolved as an affiliated hospital of SMU. The hospital covers an area of 133,333 square meters, with a building area of 260,000 square meters. There are 1,500 designated beds, 1,800 beds available for incoming patients, 24 functional departments, 58 clinical and medical departments. Two outpatient departments were established under its management to mandate two secondary level hospitals—Xingtan Hospital and Chencun Hospital. In Shunde Hospital, Cardiovascularology, Respiratory Medicine, Oncology and General Surgery are entitled as provincial key clinical specialties, and rehabilitation medicine is entitled as a TCM featured provincial specialty. There are 2,783 staff members, among whom 80 have doctor’s degrees, 404 have master’s degrees, 416 have associate titles and 121 have senior ones. Now it boasts 4 provincial key specialties and 12 key specialties of Foshan.
